“We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls.” Anais Nin, author.
This is a travel blog, writ large. To travel is to “make a journey, typically of some length or abroad.”(Google) Following the advice of Anais Nin, our travels include international and domestic travel, cultural immersions, and internal explorations. My goal is to encourage you, the fellow traveler, to plan your own travel, delight in the unexpected, try on someone else’s shoes, and dare to be changed. I will do that by offering short stories from my travels and guest writers, providing tips on planning your own travel, and things to avoid if you want to engage authentically with potential friends living in another culture than your own. Tell me what you think!
Here are some more travel quotes that speak to me. I hope they do to you too.
“A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.” Lao Tzu, father of Taoism
“There are people who travel because they want to push themselves to physical limits, people who walk across deserts or cycle across the Antarctic … And then there are people like me, who are just genuinely curious about the world.” Michael Palin, former Monty Python and world traveler
“Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on food and water.” WC Fields
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.” Mark Twain, author and humorist
